DISAPPOINTING BOOKS OF 2015

Hey hey!

I decided to talk more about the books that I didn't like this last year because I think that this is SUPER controversial and don't hate me please...
I liked some of these, but they just didn't live up to the hype surrounding them. I will later write a blog post about hyped up books and them not meeting the expectations that I have for them.

1. All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
I liked this, but I found myself not really enjoying it as much as everyone else did. I found the characters boring and unrelatable. I didn't like the writing and I maybe wasn't in the mood for contemporary because I read these three books in the same month or around summer and wasn't a fan of them all.
2. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
This book was so emotional, but I didn't find myself connecting to the characters at all and the ending didn't move me one bit. I don't know, maybe I wasn't in the mood for contemporary, but it was okay. Not bad, but not amazing. Maybe I should give this one another try, maybe I'll like the movie a lot more, but it wasn't as great.
3. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
This one I liked fine, but I didn't connect to the characters either. I think it was a 3 star book in my opinion and maybe I wasn't in the mood for contemporary, but I think I am really outgrowing them, which is good. I teared up and it moved me, but not as much as everyone did.

4. Love Hurts by Malorie Blackman
I didn't like this because of the style of 'excerpts' I didn't really request it because of that, I thought it was a book of short stories, but I was SOO disappointed with this. Probably my biggest disappointment of them all.
5. The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey
Another huge disappointment. I loved loved the first book, but the second one was not eventful at all. Nothing really happened and it didn't add to the series. I will say that I have to read the third book though, I like Yancey's writing style and I am curious as to how this trilogy ends.
6. It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
I loved this story and I loved Vizzini's writing, but I have been anticipating this book to come out in bookstores in Egypt for so long, and once it did, my boyfriend got it for me as a surprise. I expected this to blow me away, but it didn't. I found this to be quite boring at parts so that's the only reason it was disappointing - that it didn't fascinate me. Other than that, I liked it, it was a good book.

What did you think of these book if you've read any? Do we share the same opinion on some of these? I'd love to know in the comments♥

  1. I'm so sad to hear Me Before You wasn't to your liking. I'll be more cautious before I read this one :)

  2. Everyone keeps raving about this book and I had extremely high expectations for it, but it didn't break me like it did with everyone else. Idk if it's me or the book, but I didn't connect to the characters at all thats for sure. I hope you love it though!♥

  3. I was disappointed by All the Bright Places as well. I thought it was over-hyped.
Me Before You and The Infinite Sea are on my to-read list.
